Ligia Andrade Zúñiga is a mother of two, a quadriplegic, a daughter of immigrants, an advocate for human rights, and a woman that firmly believes in the power of representation. Before running for the San Mateo Union High School Board of Trustees, Zúñiga got to experience being Commissioner for the San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities, Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities-San Mateo, and a part of the Bay Area Sexuality and Disability Network. Zúñiga was born and raised in San Mateo, California. If elected to the seat of School Board of Trustees, she would be the first Latina with a disability to serve.
